In an Instant Everything Changed

Surreal. Painful. Infuriating. Rob O'Neill recounts the moment he learned of the 9/11 attacks while stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. As soon as he and his colleagues saw the second plane hit, within 30 seconds, they uttered the words "Osama bin Laden." He recalls thinking, "I guess it's on, and we're going to get you." From that point on O’Neill was determined to get on the battlefield, which ultimately drove him to try out for a spot on the SEAL's most elite unit.
